Many many years ago while my husband was staying on his own, fell sick one night, his taste buds, appetite had gone on a vacation, he couldn’t eat outside food, nor did he have the energy to cook for himself. For dinner that night his aunt suggested on phone he eats pyej - congee in Konkani. Great for times when you can’t eat anything else, but he didn’t know how to make pyej. This method below is how we like the way pyej/congee turns out. You can also make it in a pressure cooker, with enough water & 1 whistle. The texture of rice is little different than the open flame cooking like in down below.
