Coconut mat weaving

Coconut mats are used for a umpteen things back home in Udupi, Kundapur. For shade, for decor, for sun drying things on them, for shelter from rain, to build temporary shelter/room/house/shop etc, etc. They're called madal in Konkani.

Here's how it's weaved, here's my house help weaving it to sun dry some vodis (fritters) on them during summer.
