Tangy, Spicy, Sweet Canapes (Tikki Puris)

Tikki puris are tangy, spicy, sweet, canapes. A popular Indian street food. They make a great snack and are perfect for home parties. This chaat is simple and easy to make. The best part is you can make them in minutes at home.

Try these tikki puris at home and I'm sure you'll love them. Kids and elders will love them equally. I'm a hog when it comes to food. I can eat about 25-30 of them non-stop. 

You can use any tiny puris, flat puris, nachos, tortilla chips, nippat, tiny pappad as the base but the taste of these canapes varies depending on what base you use. 


Ingredients:

1 tablespoon chaat masala/lemon juice
1 medium sized tomato
1 medium sized onion
1 green chilli
1/4 cup coriander leaves
1/4 cup mint leaves
Salt to taste
1/4 cup tomato ketchup
1/2 cup sev
10-15 nippat/nachos


Serves: 2-3

Preparation Time: 15 minutes


Preparation Method:

1. Chop tomato, onions finely and add them to a bowl. Add salt, lemon juice/chaat masala and keep it aside.

2. Prepare mint coriander chutney: Grind washed, mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilli along with salt into a fine paste using as little water as possible. We need this mixture very dry or else it overflows from the tiny puris.

If the mixture is runny add 2 tablespoons of grated coconut and grind into a smooth paste.

3. Transfer the ground chutney into a bowl and keep it aside.

4. Then start assembling the canapes. Keep the tiny puris on a plate.

5. Add about a teaspoon of tomato onion mixture, followed by a dollop of mint coriander chutney, a dollop of tomato ketchup and sprinkle some sev on top.

6. Serve immediately or else the sev and puris tend to get soft and soggy.

P.S: You can also include grated carrot as a topping to make it more healthier and also use puffed rice (bhel, charmuri) on top for added crunch.
