How To Make Cone Khotte (Cone Khotto)

The joy with which my little one eats idlis in the shape of a cone is so awww. I'm sure any kid who doesn't like idli will eat them happily. 

How about healthy cone's for little ones? One jackfruit leaf is rolled into a cone shape, idli batter is poured into it & is steamed to make cone shaped idlis. 

These have been made for generations for little ones at home. The joy with which my little one eats idlis in the shape of a cone is so awww. I'm sure any kid who doesn't like idli will eat them happily. 

They're called cone khotte/cone khotto. Khotto/khotte kadubu are idlis steamed in jackfruit leaves.


It's making:

You need 1 big or 2 medium/big/small jackfruit leaves to make cone khotto.

Bigger the leaf, bigger your cone will be.


To stitch jackfruit leaf together to make cone shaped mould you need any one of these:

1. Dried curry leaf sticks - you can easily find that in your kitchen, remove the curry leaves, use the sticks on drying. Karbeva kaddi in Konkani.

Or

2. Dried bamboo shoot piece - Cut into thin sticks - sigir in Konkani.

Or

3. Thorn of Catunaregam spinosakaarekaayi gida, maggaare in Kannada.

Or

4. Dried coconut leaves petioles - sigir in Konkani.
